The Braylon Edwards Foundation Presents 3rd Annual Celebrity Charity Weekend

Via Press Release: NFL pro bowl player Braylon Edwards knows that it is better to give than receive….that is when he’s not on the football field. The pro bowl player plans to score big for arts and education through two major fund-raisers. The weekend kicks off with a food drive on Friday, June 26 where Edwards will distribute food to hundreds of families in Detroit.

“Growing up in the city of Detroit, I learned the importance of the community, giving back and education. For me to be in a position to support local Detroit gems, families and communities, is an honor” says Edwards.

On Saturday, June 27th, Edwards along with Malesa Plater, executive director of the Braylon Edwards Foundation will host the Women Moving Forward and Reaching Back Awards Brunch at the Detroit Institute of Arts from noon-3:00pm. Honorees Carol Goss, President and CEO of the Skillman Foundation, Danialle Karmanos, founder of Work it Out, and Dr. Kimberlydawn Wisdom, Michigan Surgeon General will receive the Champion In You award for their work in health and education. Dr. Ian Smith, medical expert on VH1's Celebrity Fit Club and Founder of the 50 Million Pound Challenge will serve as the keynote speaker. The afternoon which will celebrate the art of well being, will feature artwork, gift bags, auction items and more.

Starting at 8pm, the Max M. Fisher Music Center will serve as the backdrop for the Arts and Stars Celebrity Charity Gala, an evening of glitz and glamour. Edwards, along with six time Sports Illustrated supermodel Jessica White, will host the red carpet soiree featuring exquisite cuisine from some of metro Detroit’s premier restaurants, a VIP lounge presented by Patron, the hottest music and people. The evening includes special performances by native Detroiter’s Big Sean of G.O.O.D. Music (Kanye West’s label) and Rhythm and Blues artist Brandon Hines.

Charity weekend sponsors include: Five Hour Energy, Nike, MGM Grand, State Farm Insurance, Wells Fargo, Captrust, Detroit Receiving Hospital, Henry Ford Health System, Globalhue, Taubman, Patron, Fathead and Quicken Loans.
