Haiti Relief Efforts

Millions of people across the globe are turning their thoughts, prayers and money to Haiti. In just 36 hours, donations made using mobile phones surpassed 7 million dollars according to the Mobile Giving Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping other non-profits raise funds through mobile. The organization states via their press release that by texting a keyword to a designated short code via a mobile phone, a micro-donation of $5 or $10 can be made to aid the millions of people affected by this tragedy. 100% of your donation goes to the recipient charity, and the donation appears as a charge on your carrier bill, standard rates may apply.

Two-time Grammy-winner, Caron Wheeler of Soul II Soul, donates proceeds from MLK Holiday Weekend concerts to earthquake relief efforts in Haiti.
January 13, 2010 - NEW YORK - (PUMP) - Two-time Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter, Caron Wheeler of Soul II Soul, will perform at The Triad NYC on Saturday, January 16, 2010 and Sunday, January 17, 2010. Caron will perform her classic songs, a few songs from

She will also incorporate some of her developing one-woman show material into her Triad stage appearance ... featuring her many accents, dialects and dramatic faire. Big Boi’s Big Kidz Foundation and CARE-humanitarian aid agency have come together with Atlanta celebrities and leaders to support relief efforts in Haiti. On Monday, January 18, 2010, Outkast member Antwan “Big Boi” Patton is calling to service the Atlanta community to open their hearts and wallets to aid the disaster in Haiti. He is challenging local celebrities, community leaders, businesses and organizations to take a stand on the King Holiday.

A celebrity fundraiser has been planned at Rare Restaurant in Atlanta, on Monday from 6:00pm-12 midnight to collect monetary donations that will assist CARE with the millions in aid needed. Fifty percent of the Haitian population are children which equates to approximately 2 million children in need.
