Urban League Young Professionals Welcome the 2011 Miss Black USA Delegates

The Northern Virginia Urban League Young Professionals Network (YPN) and the Greater Washington Urban League Thursday Network (Thursday Network) will host a welcome reception for the 2011 Miss Black USA delegates and the reigning Miss Black USA, Osas Ighodaro on Friday, August 5, 2011, 5:30pm at Tabaq Bistro in Washington, DC. This event will also serve as a recruitment event for the two local chapters of the National Urban League Young Professionals. All community members are invited to come engage with and encourage the phenomenal contestants of the Miss Black USA pageant and meet area members of the National Urban League’s young professionals auxiliaries, who are implementing education, health and other community empowerment programs in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area.

Adult Play Date, A Charitable Affair

On August 13, 2011 in Washington, DC, the Adult Play Date, A Charitable Affair, will provide a fun social fitness event in the form of an Adult Field day, designed to incorporate fun with exercise while creating awareness for fighting obesity. In teams of six (6), adults will compete against one another in dodge ball, crazy obstacle courses and wacky relay races all while raising funds for the National Physical Activity Plan (NPAP). NPAP will receive 45% of each team registration fee to help support their campaign. Visit for more information.
