WASHINGTON, DC – On Thursday, November 14th, the Washington, DC Regional Board of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington (BGCGW) in conjunction with the Turkish Embassy paid tribute to nationally recognized and local “Youth Development” heroes who have demonstrated a strong commitment to the advancement of young people in their respective communities in the U.S. and abroad.
The “Great Futures” Youth Advocacy & Development Awards were presented to philanthropists Earl and Amanda Stafford of The Stafford Foundation and Congressman Bobby Scott, U.S. House of Representatives. The Staffords are known for hosting the People’s Inaugural Ball for disadvantaged and low-income people in 2009 to celebrate the inauguration of President Barack Obama.
